WWE’s ratings are dropping week by week. This usually happens after Wrestlemania, as post Wrestlemania season most of the fans aren’t active until Summerslam picture. WWE hooked up the fans to watch the 50 men rumble at Saudi Arabia last Friday. Surprisingly, this Sunday we have Backlash.
Backlash 2018’s match card looks solid on paper. The only match that looks meaningless is Bobby Lashley & Braun Strowman vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Other than that whole nine yards looks great on paper.
We have one of the most underrated matches on the card. Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton! Back in the day, if you ask PG Era fans you will know what it is about Randy Orton vs PG Era. This two-men gave a fantastic match at Royal Rumble 2008. After almost a decade, this match is happening again!
Jeff Hardy as United States Champion.
Jeff Hardy returned to WWE at Wrestlemania 33. Ever since then he was featured in tag team matches alongside with his brother Matt Hardy. Jeff Hardy sustained injury has was taken out of the storyline, resulting in both Jeff and Matt to participate in singles matches.
At Raw After Wrestlemania, Jeff Hardy returned back from injury. Following that week, at Superstar Shake-up, Jeff Hardy defeated Jinder Mahal for the United States Championship. This resulted in Jeff’s draft to Smackdown Live.
It is really nice to see the title on the shoulders of Jeff Hardy, and we have his challenger The Viper waiting for him.
Randy Orton’s heel turn
Randy Orton is currently face. I really miss heel days of Randy Orton. Exactly, in this match, we can see Randy Orton turning heel.
Randy Orton lost his United States Championship at Wrestlemania 34. Later at Smackdown Live after Wrestlemania, Randy Orton defeated Rusev and Bobby Roode to earn the number one contendership to face Jinder Mahal. WWE never depicted this in any of the events.
Shelton Benjamin’s push
You may wonder why we are including him this post. Shelton Benjamin is now marching towards his blooming singles career. Shelton defeated Randy Orton at Smackdown Live. Like really? A win over Randy Orton is that easy?
Exactly! Shelton Benjamin will be interfering in the match between Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton at Backlash. WWE is pushing him clearly and United States Championship picture is a right choice.
I am really excited to see the high flying moves from Jeff Hardy and can’t really wait to see that Swanton Bomb to be countered in an RKO! This match looks relevant than Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles, but we really want to wait and see what WWE has planned for.
My prediction for this match is, Jeff Hardy will be retaining his championship over Randy Orton at Backlash.
