Bad Booking Spoiled The Dream Match – AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura Match Recap

Worst Dream Match – Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles

True wrestling fans were waiting for this match for so long. This match happening in WWE at Wrestlemania, means you don’t need to build up this match. It is already built!

Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles was speculated as this match would steal the entire show, but every single one who uttered that statement will take out his sentence after that boring match. Styles vs Nakamura was the 2nd semi-main event at Wrestlemania 34. Well everyone was criticizing WWE for not having this match as the main event. But after this match – I felt like “Thank god this was not the main event”.

The match started off slowly with some trademark exchange of moves. Nakamura kicking Style which was immediately effective as Styles knocks his shoulder first into the apron looked realistic. Styles would clear the house first with a Phenomenal Forearm and the match got picked up at that point. But Nakamura kicked out of the Phenomenal Forearm – the way how AJ Styles retained at Fastlane 2018.

With a slow-paced take over the match came to its end. Where AJ Styles reveres Shinsuke Nakamura’s move into stunning realistic looking Styles Clash and picks up the victory – retaining his WWE Championship. This would be the second ever victory for AJ at Wrestlemania.

The fun and chaos began after match.

Author’s Reaction:

I really thought that this would be third Wrestlemania 34’s respect moment. But when Nakamura did the dirty work – man this moment is equal to the match they was able to deliver.

Nakamura Turns Heel!

AJ Styles and Nakamura shows respects for one another. Nakamura would go down to his knees to respect Styles but Nakamura turns heel at this point. Nakamura hits AJ Styles where it pain i.e. Nakamura hits a low blow to AJ Styles.
Nakamura started clearing house by beating the hell out of Styles and delivering a Kinshasa outside the ring.

The booking here is perfect, only thing is they could have made Nakamura the champion. This would be the second Royal Rumble and Japan winner to lose the match at Wrestlemania.

This match is not even near to what this men came up with at WrestleKingdom 10. Some claimed that this shows Vince McMahon’s racism against Japanese Wrestlers, but I won’t certainly agree with this. Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns, which was the mainevent of this night was far much better, not to the level of Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon but still better than Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles.

Nakamura heal turn is possibility for him to join RAW and start off his feud with someone like Seth Rollins but Nakamura will certainly face AJ Styles at Greatest Royal Rumble.
