Top 5 Reasons We Think Mourinho Terminated The Contract of Ibrahimovic.
Recently it was announced that Manchester United has terminated Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract. He had only scored 29 in his 53 appearances for the English team. There is no confirmed answer to why they did so but here are the Top 5 Reasons we think they released the Swedish striker.
Late in 2016, Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a very serious injury which could have ended his career when he attempted to perform a header but landed awkwardly and injured his knee.
He was off the pitch for some time and Jose Mourinho decided to sign the player in form at the time, which was Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku had been in great form at the moment and Mourinho decided to sign him to the club to play as their striker. Zlatan Ibrahimovic then made a quick recovery and had returned earlier than expected.
Even though he had healed, Mourinho still put Lukaku in the first XI. It seems that Mourinho preferred Lukaku over the Swedish striker and getting rid of him seemed like the best option.
2. He wanted to leave
Like we had said, Zlatan has not been in many matches since his return and this might have led to not happening with his role at the club. It would not be a surprise to hear that he had left due to him wanting to leave.
He would have a bigger role at the next football team he will be joining which seems like it is LA Galaxy. He could still play for bigger teams considering how skilled he is and how much he can really help struggling teams.
3. His future
Ibrahimovic is not as young as he uses to be. He is getting older every day and soon he would become a liability to the English side. At 36 years of age, it would not be a surprise if he was to get more injuries in future.
Mourinho could have thought his knee injury is a sign of his age catching up with him and needed to solve the problem.
4. New plans
Despite Mourinho having an elite team, he has still failed to become dominant and he is just trying new things every time.
Maybe he feels that Zlatan was not the solution and it has been said in recent interviews that Mourinho is planning some big signings and he would not have a role for the Swedish sensation.
Letting him go could have been a good decision because this will give him the option to play football at another team and have a bigger role and get more matches.
5. Dead weight
Jose Mourinho has a big reputation and he has proven in the past that he can make things work, with or without someone as skilled as Ibrahimovic. He certainly has enough money to buy and sell a lot of players and Zlatan seemed like he was one of the most logical releases he could make.
Despite his current form, Jose Mourinho has done a lot in the past and could still take the English side to places. Jose has been planning some highly anticipated signings in the upcoming transfer window and he has released Zlatan to make space and opportunities for the upcoming signings.
