5 Foreigner Debutants to look out for!

We are all excited about the VIVO IPL 2018, or the so called Toughest-20 in the world. Apart from the money, exciting young guns, competitive matches, there is one major attraction and those are the foreign players.
We have seen the influence of such players right from the first match, where Brendon smashed 158* runs of just 73 balls.

The first season saw Sohail Tanvir emerging as the Purple Cap winner of IPL 2008 and also had the best bowling figures yet of 6/14. While Shaun Marsh emerged as the orange cap winner scoring 616 runs in 11 matches at an average of 66.44 in that season. We love to watch Gayle making bowler’s life miserable, we love the excitement that Dwayne Bravo brings in the IPL, from Pollard’s heroics for Mumbai Indians to Ben Cutting’s match winning knock in the 2016 finals.

For that sole reason, we are going to see 5 such foreigners who will make their debut in the VIVO IPL 2018. It was tough to pick the top 5, and that is the reason it is called the Toughest-20.

Following are the 5 foreign debutants to look out for in the VIVO IPL 2018:-

5. Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi is a South African medium-fast bowler. Fans from India may recognize this talent as they may have seen him during the India vs South Africa series where he made an impressive debut. The debutant took a fifer against India and troubled the likes of Virat Kohli, who is arguably the best player in this era.His red ball debut series went above expectations where he was exceptional.

But white ball cricket is a whole new ball game (literally). His white bowl debut against India was below par, although there is always a room for development. His bowling action is very similar to Kagiso Rabada and he also consistently clocks around 140 Kph.

Although this young talent hasn’t proven himself in the white ball cricket, one of the major advantages for him will be that he will be playing under one of the greatest minds in the world cricket today, M.S.Dhoni.

Under his guidance Ngidi will live an easy life, as the calm and experience of Dhoni is what Ngidi needs in the upcoming IPL. Ngidi will be playing for the Chennai Super Kings this season, it will be interesting for us to see him bowling his line and length consistently.

4. Mujeeb Zadran/ Mujeeb Rahman

This 16-Year old spinner from Afghanistan was picked up by Kings XI Punjab for 4cr. Surely Mujeeb is living his dream right out.  This off-break bowler will look to make an impact in the tournament as he is the youngest player to play this tournament. He has already made records in the international cricket by being the youngest player to take a fifer in One Day Internationals. Mujeeb is surely following the footsteps of his mentor Rashid Khan who is just 2 years older than Zadran.

He was exceptional in the U-19 World Cup which may have led to franchises bid for him upto 4cr. This young prospect is surely going to make some impact in the upcoming season. With Ravichandran Ashwin alongside him, he has an opportunity to learn a few things from the Indian offie.

The exciting fact about this young gun is that he has the opportunity to make number of records given his age. The exciting thing to see will be whether or not he will succumb to pressure or rise above it and deliver.

3. Jofra Archer

This English All-Rounder is all set to make his debut for the Money-Ball team of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals. He was one of the few X-Factors in the Big Bash League 2018, where he made a big impact with both bat and bowl. If you look at his bowling action, one would probably think he is bowling at 120-130Kph.

But when the speed flashes onto the screens you’ll be surprised to see he clocks 145-150Kph consistently.

He bowls those fast deliveries effortlessly, it almost looks like he isn’t trying.

One thing about this player is that he will have to fight for his position in the IPL as only 4 foreign players are allowed in the team. Royals will surely play Steven Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler. Giving competition to Jofra will be D’Arcy Short.

Given D’Arcy’s current form it will be tough to keep him out of the XI. That is what makes IPL one of the most exciting leagues in the world, where players like Jofra aren’t sure about their place in the playing XI.
Archer will definitely try and make an impact which will ensure his place in the side.

The Archer-type All-Rounders are a rare commodity, one which you will rarely find.

2. D’Arcy Short

Short made the news in 2018 as he broke the highest runs scored in a season of Big Bash League, breaking Shaun Marsh’s record. D’Arcy scored 504 runs in 9 matches at an average of 63 for the Hobart Hurricanes. He scored a hundred and 3 fifties in that season with the highest score of 122*.

This resulted in an instant bidding warfare where Short landed with a 4cr contract. His heroics, as well as his Australian mate Alex Carey who finished as the 2nd highest run scorer in that season, landed both of them in the Australian International T20 team in February 2018 against the Kiwis.

D’Arcy didn’t fail to impress even at the International level as he went on to score 196 runs at an average of 49, which is more than what many T20 specialists have.

This left-hand batsman is a great addition to the Rajasthan Royals franchise as he will like to cement his position in the team as his competitor Jofra looks to do the same.

1. Evin Lewis

This Windies batsman is a nightmare for the Indian team, as both of his T20I centuries have come against India. This hard-hitter is a perfect addition to the Mumbai Indians as the most successful franchise always had a Caribbean opener with the players like Dwayne Smith, Lendl Simmons, and now Evin Lewis.

This West-Indian is called the second coming of Chris Gayle as he bats in a similar fashion destroying any bowler front of him.

This pinch-hitter can give Mumbai the start they need as he can clear any boundary in the world with ease. One of the major factors which is considered in IPL Auction is how the player had performed against India in Indian conditions.

You can expect the fireworks to begin from April 7 as Evin Lewis is here for some serious business, and that is to make a mark in the Toughest-20 and I am sure the Mumbai Indians fans will be happy to have him on the team alongside Polly, Hitman, Pandya Brothers and Bumrah.

Some Honorable mentions are Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal, he became the first Nepalese Player to be bought in the IPL by the Delhi Daredevils. This 17 year old is surely going to send waves across the IPL.
Along with Sandeep, Mitchell Santner was one of the most exciting debuts in this season.

But we have to wait another year for him to make his debut as he got injured right before the start of IPL.

That’s it from my side, these were the 5 foreign players according to me who will make exciting debuts in the VIVO IPL Season 11. Have I failed to mention any other player? Feel Free to comment down below and let us know.
